KeymasterThe Quaverato firmware is public again.
v2.5.1 is a modular rewrite of the tree we used to ship as versioned .ino files. It’s on GitHub under GPL-3.0, with CI, getting-started docs, and some bug fixes.

The repository later went private; we still mailed sources to anyone who asked. This puts a revised, actually-buildable tree back where anyone can clone it.
A note on the license, because the printed manuals got this wrong: older product docs said Creative Commons BY-NC-SA. That claim is superseded. The license in the repository — GNU GPL v3.0 — is the authoritative one. The wavetable headers remain MIT (Robert W. Gallup, 2013); see NOTICE in the repo.
What 2.5.1 actually fixes (the ones you’ll notice, or the ones that could bite you):
• A shorted tap switch could hang the pedal in version-blink / boot. That loop is gone.
• A zero in the version blink used to be silent — a missing pulse. It is now a single long pulse. Non-zero digits still blink a count.
• Startup-mode LED blink counts now match the docs (3 = engaged, 5 = bypassed).
• Tap LED PWM was flickering at 490 Hz. It now runs Timer2 fast PWM at 62.5 kHz.
• MIDI Note Off is registered, so momentary mode works the way the manual said it did.
• A MIDI channel learned from a Program Change now persists across power cycles. It used to revert to omni.
• MIDI clock follow (CC 51) no longer lets clockCount run away when follow is off, and enabling it mid-stream starts on a whole beat.
• CC 35 invert works continuously and does not require MIDI clock.
• CC 24 rate is clamped to the tap min/max. CC 26 updates zeroCutoff and the calibration clamp the same way the knob does.
• log10(0) on the HARMONIC MIX / depth extremes is guarded. That path could produce nonsense at the stops.
• EEPROM address 0 is now a schema version, so a future layout change will not silently reread your presets as the wrong struct. Existing 19-byte slots survive.Full list is in CHANGELOG.md. Archived field images (1.1.3, 2.3.6, 2.4.2) stay in archive/ and on the GitHub Releases for those tags.
How to update

You need the programmer from your build (USBTiny or compatible) on the 6-pin ISP header. The pedal has no bootloader. Read the two rules at the top of that page before you click anything: do not burn a bootloader, and back up EEPROM if you care about your presets.
Most of you already have a programmer from when you built the kit. If you don’t, the USBTiny page is here — we’re a bit short right now, so use the notify-me if it’s showing out of stock rather than emailing us to ask:
USBTiny ProgrammerPresets: 2.5.1 treats the shipped 19-byte layout as schema version 1 and leaves your slots alone. You should not lose saved presets on this update. Still, if you have a favorite slot, write the knobs down first. That’s just good practice.
